For Irwin’s 80th birthday, daughter Pam gathered photographs to create a custom photomontage from photographs that represented all different points of his life – as a WW II soldier, husband, father and now grandfather. Love for her dad is evident in all the small details that Pam shared with me – from making sure that we added Irwin’s ever present slide rule in his shirt pocket to the license plate that says “Zeke Skiis” affixed to his propeller plane. The most intricate work was fitting his sedan with five of his grandkids looking out the window. 

The final surrealist touch was superimposing steaming potatoes over every poppy growing in the foreground! (A favorite food I learned about in our very first conversation.)
