The story Dorothy tells is that her son Richard had a beautiful voice. And at age 6 on this particular Sunday, nothing could compel him to come up and sing to the congregation until Dorothy went on stage first and patiently waited for him. Richard ended up singing into her tan-colored skirt for the entire performance. Speaking about her healing dreamscape from her hospice bed, Dorothy states, “What we do need is someone to help us get through life as it should be. If it’s someone like me, what can you say to me that I don’t know already? But if you can give me a new perspective that helps me see things differently, then I can take on life’s challenges. That’s why this picture was a good thing for me. It brought me back a good, challenging memory.”
