A year after her 85th birthday, Eva is moved into an assisted-living residence, so that caregivers can more carefully monitor her diabetes and memory loss. The idea behind her Healing Dreamscape was that it would sit on her night table, and Eva’s family would reference it to jog her memory that their clan was four generations-strong, an achievement in light of Eva having escaped the Austrian anschluss — by a hair.
