Gloria Horsley interviews memory artist, Nancy Gershman at the 2015 ADEC (Association for Death Education and Counseling) Conference held in San Antonio, Texas. In the video, Gershman relates a story about a striking experience she had while teaching a master class in “Constructing a New Memory” to psychologists during her two-month artist-in-residency in Moscow, Russia.
Faced with the incontrovertible proof that Russians dearly hold on to their suffering, Gershman still posed this question to her students: “If you have a choice between releasing cortisol or serotonin into your bloodstream, which one would it be?”
