Rasha and Bassel were already betrothed when Rasha contacted me to make a wedding announcement they could send to families and friends post-haste. We brainstormed about how to bring their Egyptian heritage into the picture via the pyramids — but could not decide on contemporary photographs of Rasha and Bassel. 

When I suggested the idea of doing a photomontage that featured Rasha and Bassel as little kids dressed up in their wedding finest – that was an instant hit!  Rasha was very particular about how they should look: she wanted a veil and a white dress; and she wanted young Bassel to wear a bow tie with a red rose in his lapel. 

The final touch was a line from their favorite song by the Puerto Rican artist Ricky Martin: “The best thing about me … is you.”
